Frequently Asked Questions

What is Lay Betting?
Lay betting is the process of betting that an outcome will not happen.

Where can I do some Lay Betting?
Unfortunately you cannot place lay bets at your conventional bookmaker as they generally only allow back bets. However, there is a new breed of bookmakers, found online, called betting exchanges. You can place lay bets at betting exchanges such as Betfair and BetDaq.

What is a Betting Exchange?
A betting exchange is similar to a bookmaker, however, instead of betting against the bookmaker, you are actually betting against other members of the betting exchange. Betting exchanges are unique in that you can set your own odds, in the hope that another member will take your odds. If you’re wondering how the betting exchange makes any money, they tend to take a commission (usually 5%) of all winnings.

How can I make money from Lay Betting?
There are many lay betting systems which you can use to make money online. We recommend by starting off looking at the lay betting systems section of our site to see which systems others have used successfully. Once you feel a little more comfortable with lay betting, you’ll be making your own systems in no time!

What is the difference between a back bet and a lay bet?
A back bet is basically a conventional bet, when you bet that an outcome will happen. For example, you could bet that Man Utd. will beat Liverpool this weekend. Whereas a lay bet is when you bet that an outcome will not happen. So, you could bet that Man Utd. will not win against Liverpool at the weekend. This means if Liverpool win, or the game ends in a draw, you’d have won your lay bet.
